Vested interests and debt advice
Should you have been experiencing the normal emotional turmoil associated with debt problems it would be sensible to seek some guidance from a debt expert. You do, however, need to be careful whom you seek debt advice from as not all are whiter than white.
Whilst there are some well-intentioned people and organisations, there are also a lot of companies that seek nothing less than to profit from your misfortune. A close analysis reveals that much of their help is littered with charges and associated costs. You could theoretically wind up paying back money for the rest of your life if the wrong option is chosen. You really need independent and completely impartial debt help.
People often forget to contact their creditor(s) when they experience financial hardship. In reality, this should be the first point of contact as they may be able to offer you a more affordable alternative. If they are unwilling or unable to assist you should then seek help from a free source of guidance, such as the Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB).
