Microsoft Visio
I figured seeing as a lot of people arrive at my blog thinking it is about Microsoft Visio software, I should probably post up something general about Visio, and what it is all about. And, on the off chance you have landed here thinking this is a Microsoft flog, shhhh do not tell anyone.
What is it?
Microsoft Visio is diagramming software for Windows. It uses vector graphics to create diagrams. There are currently two editions out on the market, them being the 2007 Standard edition and the Professional version, both of which share the same interface, but the latter as additional templates for more advanced diagrams and layouts as well as some unique and funky functionality that makes it slightly easier for you to connect your diagrams to other data sources and to display the information graphically.
History
Like a lot of success stories in new media and technology related to the internet and computing, this one involves a buy-out. Which is actually the goal in most cases for any start-up company. Create a great idea, build a little past test, show it works and has commercial value (but the second point is not essential) and then sell the company to one of the market dominators (think: Google, Ebay, Microsoft, Yahoo etc). Anyway, Microsoft acquired Visio Corporation in 2000. And Visio 2007 was released on November 30, 2006. I would love to give you numbers, but I cannot find them, so if anyone sees them please comment it up.

I have an older version of Visio 4.0 that I use almost daily. I replaced my computer which has VISTA on it and I can’t reinstall my Visio 4.0 or my Visio Home. Can this be done and if so how do you do this? My Visio 4.0 worked well for me and I really don’t want to replace it. Thanks

You might need to upgrade to the newer visio edition. My best advice would be to just walk into your local computer ‘hardware’ store, and chat about it.
