Does Your Child Want to be a Flight Attendant?
If you have a son or daughter that’s interested in pursuing a flight attendant career instead of going to college, your first instinct might be to discourage them. In reality you probably don’t need to bother. They will probably become discouraged enough to quit on their own before they ever make it to flight attendant school training.
The airline attendant application process is extremely competitive. There are way more applicants than there are available jobs. Even if your child is lucky enough to land an interview, the odds of them being selected for employment are slim. It is personality,
appearance and poise that are judged on interviews, and only the very best will be selected.
A lot of fields are just as competitive, but many of them pay better and involve much better working conditions. If you child does his or her homework and really explores flight attendant career
working conditions, it’s likely another more appealing choice will come along. Should your child make it and actually become a flight attendant, odds are good they will tire of the long hours and stressful work in no time. So relax and feel good about supporting your son or daughter’s decision to become a flight attendant. The worst that can happen is it will work out great, and they’ll be sure to appreciate your support.
