Just re-read my favourite Agatha Christie novel, Murder in Mesopotamia. Macho mischief amongst a group of archaeologists, who’ve just about all got a guilty secret or two. Even though I know the story I find it really relaxing to read and it still took me nearly till the end before I remembered whodunit! I especially like that it’s partly based on her own life, as she went on several digs with her husband, Max Mallowan. Quite funny that she turned it into a murder mystery! Wonder what he made of it? Her books are just so simple and easy to read and you know exactly where you are. I was surprised to read recently that she had dyslexia symptoms. I had no idea she had dyslexia. I don’t know if dyslexia testsexisted in her day. I was thinking maybe it helped her writing style in a way – she always just gets straight to the point. Incredible to think that she managed to write dozens of books and is one of the bestselling writers of all time – I’ve even notice Christie books for sale in places like Egypt and Greece when I’ve been on holiday, she must have been translated across the globe!
