I totally recommend Italy as somewhere everyone should visit at least once in their lifetime. It is a truly incredible place. It is also so much more diverse than you might imagine. I travelled from Venice, through, Pisa, Florence, Siena, and down to Rome. Even in within those locations in the northern half of the country the variation in scenery, atmosphere, architecture was pronounced. I heartily encourage anyone going to Italy to take advantage of their well networked train system and see as much of the country as possible!
